What It Is
The Google for Startups Accelerator: South Africa 2026 is a three-month hybrid programme backing 15 growth-stage, AI-driven South African startups. Each selected company receives up to R1 million in equity-free funding — meaning founders keep full ownership of their business while using the capital to accelerate growth.
The programme runs from 28 September to 4 December 2026, combining virtual and in-person sessions where founders work directly with Google engineers, product specialists, and industry experts.
The Details
Who qualifies, and what's actually included
Who Qualifies
South African-led startups demonstrating traction, building scalable AI-powered products or services with significant market potential — preferably growth-stage, not pre-revenue.
What's Included

Why This Matters
This isn’t a one-off. It’s part of Google’s plan to support 50 South African startups between 2024 and 2028, alongside a new Applied AI Lab announced for Ghana and continued investment in Africa’s digital infrastructure. Since 2018, the wider Google for Startups Accelerator Africa programme has backed over 190 startups across 17 countries, which together have raised more than $400 million.
